How to create a Tradeshow

There’s no better feeling of satisfaction when after a hard day’s work and getting that WOW factor, you step back and look at what you’ve created! Then you turn up on the day and think what a great job the ‘set-up fairies’ have done! Below is how it’s all put together!
It all starts with a plan. Who’s the retail group? What’s our strategy? And then a whole load of questions.
How much space do we need? What equipment should we use? What products do we need to showcase? What can we do this year to make an impact? What do we need to make our stand the one that everyone’s talking about? What products do we need to sample? Do we have the Foodservice Trainers to prepare the products? Are there enough Fieldsales for the duration? Do we have all the point of sale? Will our equipment depot in Bilston be able to deliver the equipment? Will the equipment get through the doors or up and down those steps (there’s always steps)? Can we bake on the premises? If not, where could we go to get all the food prepped? Can we get a delivery on the day and for that time? What trade show deals are we running? Do we have enough time to get the stand looking its best?
The countdown begins at least 6 weeks before!
Show space booked – check
Electrics booked and paid for – check
Equipment ordered – check
“LET’S HAVE A CONFERENCE CALL” Foodservice Trainers booked – check
Packaging order placed and picked up from Head Office (we only take what we need - in the words of a well-known retailer “every little helps”)
Product order sorted and placed – check
Telesales contacted to make sure the order can be delivered on the time specified (and make sure everything’s in-stock) – check
Fieldsales Representatives booked – check
Point of sale ordered – check
“LET’S HAVE ANOTHER CONFERENCE CALL”
And then its set up day.
So, Bilston deliver the equipment and the stock has arrived the stand has been built and the power is on. The backdrop is up the equipment is placed and set to planogram.
Then it’s all hands-on deck whilst we bake and we make, we slice and we dice, we wrap and we pack, then we display and we pray…that everything fits and with a “could you just move that to there and that one to there” and after a great team effort, CAN WE GET A DRUM ROLL HERE? We are ready! Easy isn’t it!
